“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
My Farming Universe is Expanding
Who would have thought that two people working at something would accomplish that thing almost twice as fast? I can’t tell you how awesome it is to have Matt down here helping with the farm, eager to learn and willing to work, and to be crossing stuff off the list as opposed to getting overwhelmed by the seemingly insurmountable tasks accumulating on that list! I’m hoping that within a few weeks, the work we’re tackling will be more proactive and less reactive. What an awesome feeling! The opportunities are starting to blossom and bloom like the squash and zucchini flowers in the field. Big things are on the horizon for Street Fare Farm, stay tuned lest I jinx it all!
Down in the fields, like I stated above, things are just getting crossed off that list! My plot out here at the Lomax Incubator Farm is so well groomed and manicured right now, it looks like it could be the centerfold for Martha Stewart Living. The peas are starting to come on, the squash, zucchini and cucumbers are starting to bloom, I’ve got little green tomatoes on my field plants, and everything else is popping like crazy! I’m happy for the rain and cooler weather for my spring plot, I know the broccoli and cauliflour appreciate it, but now I need the rain to stop before the weeds in the rows take over! Everything is looking great, and, more importantly, tasting great!
I hope to see you tomorrow morning at the NoDa Farmer’s Market! They are calling for a beautiful, warm, sunny day, so hang up those raincoats, don your finest spring frocks and come on out to get your hands on radishes, kale, collards, beet greens, lettuce, arugula, and maybe, juuuust maybe some peas and carrots! Matt and I will be wearing our finest spring frocks, bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to serve you!
Starting this coming Tuesday, May 10th, you can get my produce at the Rotary Square and Market on Union Street in downtown Concord, right next the the courthouse! The market runs from 10am-1pm. There’s a super cool splash pad for you and/or your children to cool off in! I hope to see you Tuesday!
CSA Registration is still open! I’m hoping to open up a pick-up location in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte soon, so if you know anybody in that area that may be interested in getting farm fresh, USDA Certified Organic produce from yours truly on a weekly basis, please spread the word! I want this farm family to grow, Grow, GROW!
Sometimes the rainy days can wear on you, bring you down, but I try to remember that sunny days are always just around the corner, and I suggest that you try to remember that, too! I hope you all have a super sunny week, and I hope to see you soon! Be well!
