Well folks, we are only one week out from getting out into the field and starting off this season stronger than ever! I just had the opportunity to spend a few days out in British Columbia, Canada with some old work buddies, for a little snowboarding session at Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, and what a great way to finish off the off-season (what off-season?!) and get outside myself and away from the farm to recharge and get my mind right for the busy season ahead! There’s just something about being on top of the world under the big blue sky, surrounded by a sea of white, zooming down the mountain at speeds just outside of comfortable that really make you appreciate the beauty of the world and life, and give you the ability to clear out the head and focus your attention. It’s very meditative in a sense, that pure focus you have to administer to flying down the side of a mountain, where nothing else really matters save getting to the bottom in one piece. I absolutely love it, but I’m happy to be back!

Lily and Matt held down the fort with effortless style while I was away, and nothing makes me happier than coming back to a greenhouse full of thriving sprouts and the chickens clucking away, happy as ever. As soon as I got back, we started the spring brassicas in the greenhouse: trays of kale, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, chard and cabbage, and after sending this off we’ll be going back to start some of the first pepper and eggplant seedlings of the season. There’s a lot left to do in final preparation for going out into the field, but I am recharged and ready to tackle every task and obstacle that lies before me. I hope you all are as excited as I am to get the season going!
